Nature and Developmental News
Housing developments have long been a cause for concern with houses and new gardens unsuitable for supporting nature. Gardens have been small and sterile – fences, fake grass and with little to no greenery. The end result is stark and depressing and devoid of life. By contrast, Barratt Homes has created a housing development called Orchard Meadows in accordance with guidance from the RSPB. Partnered since 2014, the aim is to boost natural habitats at Barratt Homes developments.
The focus is on creating gardens to support wildlife and habitats for nature and this includes the creation of hedgehog highways, bee boxes, compost bins, wildflowers, and native hedgerows. Barratt Homes have won an award from the Home Builder Federation (HBF) for the 12th consecutive year.
